Thoughts on rebasing
Why don't we have a more frequent rebase cycle? Rebase with a long cycle gives a bigger market impact.
Builders may want to think "market is rational so the price will only reflect the rebase amount", but psychology doesn't work that way. And the catastrophe happens when the sentiment is heated.
Another big problem with daily/half-daily rebasing is timezone. People sleep. They don't want the market price drastically (negatively in particular) when they sleep. If you want to build a global project, consider the timezone. People also live on the other side of the earth.
Builders tried to deal with this kind of problem by dividing the impact with 10, but adjusting the frequency would be easier to explain the system to the newcomers. Of course, it is better to use both together.
So I think having at least 3, preferably 4 rebases per day will be good. People on every part of the earth can deal with more than 50% of the rebase events. And the market will reflect the rebase more rationally, as people feel the rebase like a more usual event.
